Q. What motivated you to participate in the Carlo Acutis statue project?
In November 2024, I came across an article about Carlo Acutis in the catholic peace broadcasting corporation
and felt that he is a saint greatly needed in our time, This led me to study more about him.
As I learned about the amazing works he accomplished in God,
I became convinced that he is truly a saint for today, especially for young people.

Q. What was the most important aspect you wanted to express in this statue project?
In this project, we chose a laptop as a symbol of Saint Carlo Acutis,
who introduced the mystery of the Eucharist and the Marian apparition sites
to young people through the computer. The statue depicts him holding a laptop in his right hand,
visualizing his activities and achievements. At the same time we wanted the public to recognize
that the statue is erected communicates and evangelizes the world through various forms of media including the Internet.
Q. What was the most difficult part?
Traditional statues, where saints are clothed in togas,
convey dignity and reverence through the shadows created by the wide fabric.
Saint Carlo Acutis, however, in a short-sleeved T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers,
represents a typical young man of the 21st century, which initially made me uneasy.
Therefore, I combined artistic imagination to realistic human form
to express the holy atmosphere flowing from the saint’s inner being and the humble young man.
Q. What message would you like to convey to the faithful who encounter the statue?
Saint Carlo Acutis gave hope to people of our time, showing
that anyone can become a saint through their unique gifts and works.
today, young people face extreme fatigue and stress
in a fiercely competitive society, along with identity confusion amid an overwhelming flood of information.
My hope is that looking upon the statue of Acutis,
a saint of their own generation, youth and young people will be inspired to grow closer to the Lord.
This statue was created with the desire that they may realize all their efforts and work are
not for themselves alone but are dedicated to the world and offered in thanksgiving and glory to the Lord.
